Reston, Va., [April 9, 2008] Applied knowledge Group (AKG) announced it has agreed to be a gold sponsor of the first annual Spinal Research Foundation’s (SRF) 4 mile race, 2 mile walk and Spinal Health Fair to be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008. The 4-mile race, a USATF certified course, will begin and end at the Virginia Spine Institute, located on the corner of Wiehle Avenue and Sunset Hills Road in Reston, Virginia. This event will help raise awareness for spinal health and raise funds that will be devoted to furthering research and education on spinal health issues. According to the Spinal Research Foundation, more than 90% of the population will suffer from severe neck and or lower back pain during their lifetime and eight percent of these people develop chronic and often, debilitating, pain.
Michael Howland, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of AKG states that, “I am personally excited about this event because it will make possible much needed research on spinal surgery and treatment. SRF is now leading the medical community in ground breaking research.” Applied Knowledge Group will not only be sponsoring the event but has challenged its employees to participate and compete in the race.
