AKG Goes "Green" and Supports the Wounded Warrior Project

Reston, Va., [August 17, 2009] Applied Knowledge Group, Inc. (AKG) is encouraging its employees to go “green” on August 27th 2009 by powering down their computers and peripherals in support of Power IT Down Day. Hewlett Packard (HP), in collaboration with Microsoft, Citrix, and Intel, will calculate the number of people who Power IT Down, and post the results online. A portion of the cost savings will be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).

AKG’s Chief Operating Officer, Jim O’Farrell, states his enthusiasm and support for this cause, “We have put out announcements and reminders on our corporate intranet to ensure that our employees participate in this commitment to save energy; and we certainly welcome another opportunity to help support the WWP.” Combined with his work supporting WWP as a board member for the National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), O’Farrell is happy to be involved with the WWP through multiple facets.

On August 27, join AKG employees and power down your computer, monitor, and printer at the end of the day. Spread the word to colleagues and friends. AKG is proud to play a part in conserving the environment while honoring and empowering wounded warriors across the US.

To get involved in this national initiative, visit the Power IT Down website and sign up today.
