Reston, Va., [February 1, 2010] Applied Knowledge Group (AKG) and The Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation present TOPGUN: The Real Story.
This event features former TOPGUN Instructor, CAPT C.J. "Heater" Heatley III, as he takes you on a guided tour of the training and life in the Navy's elite TOPGUN and a behind the scenes look at the making of the film.
The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 27, 2010 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. at The Sheila C. Johnson Performing Arts Center of The Hill School in Middleburg. Ticket prices are $25 for adults and $10 for students. The program also includes a silent auction featuring TOP GUN Memorabilia and other exciting items.
Heatley notes, “I am pleased to share my experiences both as a TOPGUN instructor and my participation with the movie Top Gun to benefit such an important cause. Unfortunately cancer seems to touch every family, including mine, so fighting this disease is personally gratifying, especially as it directly supports Fauquier and Loudoun county residents.”
All proceeds will go directly to The Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Fund (CBBCF) and are dedicated to breast cancer prevention and early detection. This is done through screening and education; support and community outreach to Loudoun and Fauquier County individuals and families facing breast cancer; and advancing scientific research in the fight to eradicate breast cancer.

About the Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation
The CBBCF was founded in early 2007 by Middleburg resident James P. Atkins, who lost his late wife, Cheryl Clayton Atkins, to breast cancer in 2003. The Fund is led by breast cancer husbands, sons, daughters, survivors, and friends who conduct special events and raise funds directly from local residents and businesses. To date, the fund has raised nearly $100,000.
