Applied Knowledge Group and Microsoft publish a Customer Solution Case study highlighting collaborative solutions within the Federal Government

Reston, Va., [Nov 14, 2011] The Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has deployed a highly successful SharePoint-based collaborative platform – the Enterprise Collaboration Network (ECN) - across the entire organization.  USCIS worked closely with AKG and Microsoft to build a mission-relevant collaborative environment that went from zero to 21,000 users in 18 months.  Equally as important the vast majority of the work-related solutions were created by USCIS personnel, driving an overall use rate of over 50%, which means that more than 10,000 users access the system daily.  USCIS personnel are using ECN to coordinate naturalization ceremonies nationwide, manage key financial processes, coordinate with multiple field offices, and upgrade the critical body of USCIS policies.  New solutions emerge daily because USCIS personnel have been trained to configure their own SharePoint solutions with the guidance of a robust governance framework.
