Reston, Va., [June 24, 2011] Applied Knowledge Group, Inc. (AKG) is proud to be a sponsor for this year’s 2011 Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation’s (CBBCF) annual Walk/Race. The event will be held on Saturday, October 9th and conducted simultaneously in 3 different Virginia locations: Middleburg, Leesburg, and Warrenton.
Since it began in 2007, AKG continues to be committed to serving this event each year. For this specific event last year AKG raised a total of $45,000 from their customers, vendors and employees. In all of 2010, through corporate efforts and personal giving, AKG raised over $75,000 in total for the CBBCF. In addition, AKG donates web hosting and office space for the foundation.
As a corporate citizen AKG is committed to helping the community where they live and work. “What has always impressed me about The Cherry Blossom Foundation is that all of its fundraising goes directly into our communities to help our fellow citizens. It is truly a local organization helping local people” notes Michael Howland, Middleburg resident and Chief Executive Officer of AKG’s parent company, Tioga Holdings.

About the Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Foundation
The CBBCF was founded in early 2007 by Middleburg resident James P. Atkins, who lost his late wife, Cheryl Clayton Atkins, to breast cancer in 2003. The Foundation is led by breast cancer husbands, sons, daughters, survivors, and friends who conduct special events and raise funds directly from local residents and businesses.
