AKG Sponsors Local Event Dedicated to the Fight
Against Breast Cancer
Reston, Va., [October 5, 2009] Applied Knowledge Group, Inc. (AKG) was the Primary Corporate sponsor of the Sunday Sept. 27, 2009 Nannette’s Walk. The Walk is an event dedicated to supporting the fight against breast cancer in the local community. The Cherry Blossom Breast Cancer Fund organized the Middleburg, Virginia event, which was a 2 mile walk. In its third year, 2009 was the Walk’s biggest year yet, with 325 people registered to walk. Their friends, families and pets also came to enjoy the barbeque celebration and the nice Fall weather.
AKG’s Chief Executive Officer, Michael Howland, of Middleburg, attended the event with his family and said that he “is very pleased and proud to support the Fund’s local work to eliminate breast cancer.”
100% of the proceeds from this year’s Nanette’s Walk are dedicated to breast cancer prevention and early detection. This is done through screening and education; support and community outreach to Loudoun and Fauquier County individuals and families facing breast cancer; and advancing scientific research in the fight to eradicate breast cancer. Since 2007, the Fund has raised nearly $100,000 distributed to breast cancer organizations and hospitals in the local Piedmont area.
